This may be a dumb question but I am trying to install the universal external controller from Golden Motor on my magic pie 3 and several of the connections call for red wires coming from the harness into the controller connections. I only have one red wire. How do I make this work?

Pictures might be helpful.

Can you put an actual number on "several"? Typically, Controller has battery red and black, 8 wires going to motor, 3 thick phase, three thin Halls, plus two more thin red and black with the Halls, maybe one white for speed or temp sensor. Then, lights or aux power, throttle, pedelec, maybe anti-theft or power switch, various others. Some motors have no Hall sensors, magic pie may be one of those.

Do you not have the wiring harness which connects directly to the new controller?

How about the wires coming from the motor, and throttle, and switch?

I have the wires that came with the original motor and the original harness.

Were you using a controller identical to the new one, or the internal to the motor controller, which you are now replacing?

You have no NEW wires to match the NEW controller?

Going from right to left on your diagram, you should have red and black from the battery and controller, hopefully with matching connectors, then three thick phase from the motor and controller, again, hopefully with matching connectors, and then five very thin Halls, two of which are red and black, all five each from the motor and controller, once again, hopefully with matching connectors.

Start with these, and tell me what you have.

I will guess there is a crimp tool in your future.

The first half of the diagram I have everything I need. It's the left side that is screwing me up. I cut off the end of the 8 pin connector to separate the wires and connect them to what they sent me with the controller. I'll take pics as soon as I can.
