I have seen a few people get shorts to their controller. Example: I had to tow my brother on his Ebike with my Ebike because he got a wire was rubbing on some metal and shorted his controller. So it does not happen to me I want to be able to put a "Fuse" between the controller and the battery. I run a 48v ( 56.4 v battery ) 35amp Battery. I am assuming I could use a 35 to 40 amp inline fuse. My question is is it safe to use a 35 to 40 amp inline fuse to save my controller and battery?

Thanks guys :)

I think 1.25 * current of your battery. I have been trying to figure that out for an e bike. I haven't found a solid answer. That's how determine breaker size in an electrical panel. If you fuse it at what your bike is using wouldn't it blow when it pulled the 30a. What about peak current. I would imagine at least multiply current times 125% which is 1.25. if you find a solid answer please post.
