I started my ebike adventure around 2019 and after my initial purchase of a BBS02 I was so stoked. I immediately purchased a BBSHD with a 100mm BB to put on a fat tire bike. Little did I know that good candidates for this are hard to find.
My experience with FAT is limited to a short ownership of a banana seat type and a test ride on a VIVI F26F that a local LBS was trying to unload for cheap. I was not impressed as they were sluggish compared to what I typically ride.
I slapped the HD on a Giant Rincon and then on a Surly Ogre (with a ridiculous amount of spacing) and put about 700 miles on the motor.
So I broke down and purchased the "no brainer" Mongoose Dolomite from an individual on Market Place for less than advertised on Kramazon. Perfect fit w/ no spacers! Lekkie 46 tooth with 22mm offset allowed the chain to slightly rub the tire in the lowest gear (tallest rear sprocket). I am currently using Luna's 36 tooth mighty mini.
I have upgraded all components with stuff I had laying around. (except tires, wheels and seatpost)
Long story short....I still do not like the sluggishness of the Fat Tire experience and intend to sell it. Another negative (imo) is the "one size fits all" frame and no attachment points for accessories. After all...it is a Dolomite, right?. I will try to sell it and end my fat tire experience.
These are the bikes I enjoy riding!
