Hi all,

let's see whether I can find an answer here- support from Engwe is not really happening, regrettably...
Just bought the L20 3.0 Pro, and it all looked very promising- BUT: after a few kilometres I got an "Error 37: speed sensor error" and pedalling support is turned off.
Haven't been able to locate that sensor yet.
Is there anybody who can point me in the right direction?
Thanks a bunch beforehand!

Cheers from Denmark, /T

Hi, what I'm coming up with is showing error 37 is a problem with your throttle. You can check the plug. If you have julet connectors it will be in the front looming (always line up the arrows). If you have no front plug you will have to go down to the controller and check the jst plugs there. If that isn't the problem it could be bad hall sensors in the throttle itself. If you need customer service, your best bet is to stay away from the Chinese links. They actually have some repair shops in Denmark and a German customer service number. People in England have been very impressed with their help line, so I am going to post that too, it is from a previous thread. If checking the plugs doesn't work, you may need a new throttle. Engwe has been very good in just sending them out, once you find the right customer service. Let us know how it goes.

Hi again,
well...just checked- and the L20 3.0 Pro doesn't have a throttle, apparently :)
Wondering where that speed sensor might be located...
Cheers from Amtoft,

Wow, OK let me see if I can find a different manual for the European model. Mark me down as chagrined.:giggle:

I'm sorry, this is a completely different bike. I don't know why they are naming them almost exactly the same as the old ones. I found a new, UK Engwe website. You have a midrive and a torque sensor. Who knew? I don't know who makes your motor. On midrives that we build, the speed sensor is going to be on the rear left chainstay of the bike. There should be a small magnet attached to one of the spokes on the rear wheel. When they are aligned properly, you spin the rear wheel and you will see an Led light on the sensor come on. Check to see if your magnet is there, if it is you can adjust it with either a hex key or screwdriver, depending on the type. I will post a picture of it, in case it is missing. Let me know if any of this helps. I'm also going to post a picture of your bike because I think it is new to all of us.

No hard feelings ;)
I was actually looking at that sensor thingy and wondering if there should be some kind of counterpart.
The spoke magnet IS missing!
Looks like I can just use any spoke magnet, judging from the recommendations you gave?
Oh well, thanks a bunch for your help so far!
Hopefully the error will be fixed soon :)

Apologies for jumping on you post but I have also received the same model, everything seems fine except my lights are dead? They flickerered on and off then nothing and display is showing no lights, I have checked the cables and as far as I can see there is not a, problem but must be connection somewhere.
I have had over 20 mails with engwe who have been absolutely useless and keep offering me £150 compensation.
Total rubbish CS I will take this on all social media, platforms
Sorry about the hijack and my rant but I am furious!
Advice please?

Mmh, not fixed yet...
Got me a spoke magnet from our local bike pusher- still no signal on the sensor. That is: no speed or distance display.
And after a few hundred meters the same error code (which I hope I remember correctly): "Error code 037
Break fault Speed sensor fault".
I've moved a magnet up and down in front of the sensor to see if there's an LED lighting up, and it isn't.
Is there some kind of Error log somewhere?
Cheers, /T

Hi. No, your software is not that interactive. You have a midrive that is new to the market. I don't know how your sensor plugs in, but you may need a new one. Does it have a julet plug somewhere along that wire? Midrives usually have the controllers internal to the motor, if you get a chance, ask them who makes this model's motor. I am unfamiliar with this new setup. Have you tried calling Engwe in England? I'm guessing they would send you out a new speed sensor. You have a brand new design with this bike, Engwe has not made a lot of midrives, so there are a lot of unknowns. Let us know what they say.

This is as far as I know, a brand new bike to the market. It is beginning to seem like everyone is in "prototype land". Do you have julet plugs near the lights? You can check them for continuity. Engwe has affiliated bike shops in England. If I were you, I would talk to one of the shops below to facilitate the repair and take the money if you need to, also do you know who makes this bike's motor? It is hard to trouble shoot when a bike is so new, that I know none of the components. Goodluck.

Hi, again. I just saw this particular post. The sensor magnets are neodymium, so they are very strong and you will need one of that type. It is suspicious that the magnet was gone, so you might first try making sure you've got a powerful one, to see if there is a signal.

Yay, thanks to your hints @Annieolnie I managed to make the bike work <3
Had to modify the spoke magnet with a stronger one from our fridge :)
Here are some pictures.

You're funny. I was half expecting a refrigerator magnet of a kitten to be glued to your spoke.:giggle: it's a really interesting bike though. Come back at some point and give us a review. I'm intrigued as to which motor they are using and how it runs.

Thank you for your response
Have taken the bike to an e-bike specialist mechanic who informs me the bike is not fit for purpose.
Back shock is redundant I was told it's the cheapest on the market.
Gears slip on every change.
Lights useless Intergrated electrics inside the frame.
Boost button working intermittently.
I'm sorry to burst anyone's bubble but I have requested a return and refund from engwe as I have lost complete faith in there products!

Latest update: Engwe service department is going to provide an original spoke magnet asap.
I've ordered two rear view mirrors (extending out of the steering bar).
Ready for the first real rides! And then: planning to commute 16 km after the Easter holidays (weather conditions permitting- it's North Denmark, after all).
Will provide a review some day- first impressions are great!
Smooth ride with suspension and fat tyres. Strong assistance from the 250W 100Nm MIVICE engine.
Thanks again for the assistance!
Cheers, /T
