Hello everyone,
I have a problem that sometimes when riding a bike I feel a clear resistance and because of that I have to pedal harder. This happens both in the assist mode below 25 km/h and above this speed without assistance in the highest 7th gear. I checked the brake pads and discs and I did not find any friction or blocking of the rolling resistance of the wheels. I also do not hear any strange sounds coming from the drive or wheels. Does anyone of you have the same problem with the bike? Maybe it's some kind of manufacturing defect of the electric motor?

Engwe has been having trouble with these new 3.0's. That bike has a torque sensor, that may be where the trouble lies. It is suppose to measure pressure on the pedals to decide how much power to give you. You could also be having trouble with your controller or how the two are interfacing. How does it feel pedaling around with the bike turned off? Do you know what display is on this model? I've downloaded the EU manual but it does not say much about advanced pedal assist settings, those would be in your P settings, if they exist. You could check to see how they are set. Other than that, Engwe has a repair site map. I'll post what comes up for Poland. They also have repair shops in Germany. People have trouble calling customer service in China, so try calling one of them in the EU. From my experience on this forum, the one that is in England is the best, so I will post that here in case you need it. (It is from another forum post). If your bike is under warranty, I think they will be needing to send you some new parts.

Thank you for your support, at the next opportunity I will test the bike again according to your instructions and let you know. As for the display, I also could not find any information, after entering the service menu there are no settings regarding the torque sensor, only basic configuration. I would like to mention that the display does not show the failure icon or error code. If after the tests the problem still occurs, then I will go to the nearest authorized Engwe service. Best regards

Hello again,
I did a test ride with the display off and it did have some rolling resistance, but not much. Later I rode with the system on without power steering and it was normal without resistance. I rode a few kilometers in 3rd gear, went shopping and it was ok without any comments. Even when I was returning with a fully loaded trunk under load, the bike did not show any problems with rolling resistance. To sum up, I do not know now whether the bike has a manufacturing defect or not. Maybe it needs to be run in and ride a few hundred kilometers to ride normally.
Best regards

Did you ride in Pedal assist and it was OK? Had you charged your battery since the last ride? I'm wondering if your torque sensor wire might have a bit of a loose connection and with a little more juice in the battery, it might not be so apparent. You could always check the plugs down there for tightness, if it reoccurs.

Hi, I didn't charge my ebike battery since my last ride and that's true I haven't noticed any problems with torque sensor during my travel ,even though I was driving under a load with groceries on the trunk . I checked the cable connections to see if they were loose and they were ok. Now I don't know what's going on. I even used the boost a few times while riding up steep hills to check the sensor's operation and there were no problems. I will test it more than once and then I will decide whether to contact a bike service with the problem. Best regards
