Hello Everyone,

I am planning to convert my bike to electric using an e-bike hub motor conversion kit. I have been recommended to purchase the kit from Greenlance due to their "reliability".

A couple of friends were talking about Greenlance and their batteries have 2 years warranty. I looked into their website and apparently, you get 2 year warranty and Samsung cells inside. The parts that I am looking to put into the bike are the following:

Motor: https://greenlance.co.uk/collection...w-electric-bike-conversion-kit-rear-hub-motor
Battery: https://greenlance.co.uk/collection...-48v-20ah-samsung-cells-21700-premium-quality

The conversion kit comes with 30A sine wave controller but I asked them if I can upgrade the controller to 45A which they said it would be fine but the BMS is 40A. I asked them if they can change it and we have agreed to install a 50A Bluetooth BMS for £100. I know its a bit expensive but I would really like to invest once.

I wonder if anyone else has heard of Greenlance before and if had any previous experience with their product.

Thanks,

George

In the states, this isn't a business we would be ordering from, mostly due to the exchange rate. Obviously, your build is strictly for off-road in the UK. The sw900 display is not for KT controllers so I would be interested to know what company's controller they are selling you. Controllers are the bugaboo of all ebikes and not enough is said about them. The display and the controller, absolutely have to match. Is it programmable? If it is not, what amperage is it set at? Some off your upgrades are not going to be useful if the controller can't manage them. I also don't think you should consider this a one-off. You will learn things and want to change things as you go, so keep that in mind. Youtube has a bunch of sw900 display videos you can watch. It matters greatly what controller it is paired with, which will effect it's programming and what it can do, but the videos will give you a sense of it. Could I ask, what sort of bike is this build for, MTB or commuter?

Hello Annieolnie,

Thank you you for your response.

I have contacted Greenlance on their email about the controller and they responded to the following:

"The controllers with our kit are branded with programmable options. We provide a SW900 display due to its cost-effectiveness. We suggest UKC1 Display as it is fully programmable and you can set your amperage, volts, wheel size, etc... . "

I have decided to go with the UKC1 Display, please see the images attached. I think I have made the right choice as the controller, display, battery and motor is from Greenlance Brand and I am sure all parts will be matching.

So far I am really impressed with their customer service and the time they take to respond to my stupid questions.

As the motor is 1000W I will be using it for urban commute and off the road travels. I have an option to restrict my motor to 250W so I would be able to use it with the PAS and travel to work too. I have ordered the kits and hopefully all goes as planned.

This is a very interesting controller and display. I believe it's programming was designed for the UK. You can not only set speed amounts but you can set wattage amounts for the Pas system. Instead of the motor shutting off at certain speeds it can be run at a certain wattage, which will give you a much more natural feel. I think you are making a good choice and I am impressed. I'll post a couple of pages here. You can download the whole manual at scrbd.com, or just Google it. When it is all built let us know how she goes.
