Hi everyone,

I'm having some issues with my Ecotric Rocket e-bike after replacing the controller, and I’m hoping someone here can help me troubleshoot.

Background:

  • Bike Model: Ecotric Rocket
  • Old Controller: LC03622C1H-TS23 (36V)
  • New Controller: LC03622C1H-TS23 (36V) - Same model number as the old one
  • Symptoms:
    • After replacing the controller, the motor is much louder than it used to be.
    • The bike struggles to reach over 10mph on PAS level 5, whereas it used to easily hit 20mph with the old controller.
    • Throttle works, but the motor noise and performance are not normal.

What I’ve Tried:

  1. Checked all connections: Everything is securely connected, including the motor phase wires (blue, green, yellow) and hall sensor wires.
  2. Cleaned and inspected connectors: Ensured there’s no debris or corrosion.
  3. Tested different PAS levels: The motor remains loud, and the speed doesn’t improve.

Potential Issues:

  • Controller Defect?: Could the new controller be defective even though it has the same model number as the old one?
  • Firmware or Software Difference?: Could there be a difference in firmware that’s causing the motor to run inefficiently?
  • Power Cord Compatibility?

Questions:

  • Has anyone experienced similar issues after replacing a controller with the same model?
  • Could the loud motor and speed issue be related to a defect in the new controller, or might it be something I’ve overlooked?
  • Should I be considering the power cord as a potential culprit?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I’m considering reaching out to the supplier, but I wanted to see if anyone here has insights before I do.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I see you pretty much covered the forums with this. Somebody, somewhere had mentioned checking your phase wires, did you try that? The colors may not be correct. There are YouTube videos on how to do it. As I'm sure you have found, people do have trouble with Ecotric controllers. Do you have a multimeter? I don't know your DIY level but given that it is a small system you may just want to return this controller and upgrade to a KT controller. Even if you are getting a new display with it, I don't think it will cost you anymore. You can also Google Ecotric controller wiring diagrams and see if the connections are correct, I gather that has also been an issue. Let us know where you are with it. Good luck.
