Hi, I'm new to this forum and I hope someone can help.
I damaged the axle wires on my dapu 250w geared rear hub motor and need to get to the stator to rewire it.
I've removed the drive side cover, the planetary gears and clutch but i cant remove the flywheel/motor from the casing as it seems to
foul on the large ring gear (see attached images).
So, with this in mind I presumed that the other non-drive side cover plate unscrews like the drive side did.
But it doesn't seem so, as I can't see any kind of join line between this cover and motor.
I even filed where the cover should meet the motor ,but it seems to be a one piece construction (two piece if you count the
other cover I removed.)

It's almost as if the ring gear has been sweated in after assembly thus preventing motor removal.
I'm pretty sure this isn't the case but I'm pretty confused.

please find the enclosed images for clarification.
P.S ignore the damage to the cover keyways as this was evident when I acquired the motor.

Many thanks in advance for any advice I may be given.

It looks to me like the side you are trying to remove needs a spanner wrench which indicates that that side screws into the center housing. It looks like someone has been trying to get in it, but remember the threads may be reversed to counter the rotation of the motor. Try to move it clockwise instead of counter-clockwise. Maybe a little heat would help it there is loctite used.

Thanks for that, mate, but it just looks like it doesn't have any kind of seam.
Would it be keyed to get purchase on the side I removed or am I way off here?
Surely it does unscrew as you say.
Thanks again

Save yourself, get another Hub and ride, work on this masterpiece in spare moments. Try a little heat and hope the piece you are trying to remove isnt one piece, keeping in mind some parts are never intended to be servicable.

I have the same problem. Did you mange to open it? I read on another forum that it have to been opened clockwise.
