Cycling Shorts?

I have and they are padded ,don't:( tell Mum .

I found a pair I purchased many years back for Mountain bike riding , never used them .I took them out of the sealed pack and threw them in the wash .
I might try them with my new Amazon wide gel seat .
I did try them on (only tried on ) ,and its like having a pillow stuck down your undies

I’ve heard you are supposed to wear bareback! WITHOUT underwear!!

Been wearing them for over 35 years, still riding with them, doubled up sometimes for long hours in the saddle.
For short rides under 30 mins, I can do without bike shorts.

If not only for the padding, the form-fitting lycra/spandex actually support your leg muscles, glute muscles and lower back muscles while cycling.
Similar to wearing a back brace when lifting heavy weights, the tight short protect your muscles during cycling activity.

Always commando under the bike short, no need for extra underwear to chafe into your skin.

Thanks! From June - October my rides are for exercise M-F 5 miles, 20 minutes!

Bike shorts would be more beneficial in the other months when I will do longer rides!

Do you wear the ones with the gel pads built in to them?

Any pad is better than no pad, gel pads are nice for comfort, but a bit bulky & heavy.
As a seasoned cyclist, I don't wear the gel pad short unless I know that I'm riding for long hours in the saddle.

Cycling shorts on every ride - over ~10miles - for the last 30years.

Just get with the program, they work. And cycling jerseys for rear pockets and breathable materials.

They don't look like diapers or underwear, they don't feel like a pillow in your shorts, real men wear them.

I agree helps with keeping your butt from getting sore with poor seat.

I prefer bibs and my favorites are Louis Garneau and Castelli. I wear Assos Cargo Shorts over them when riding my eBike or gravel bike.

They prevent chaffing and wick away sweat while adding support. I still wear cycling socks and jerseys as well.

I am a lifelong cyclist and still ride a road bike and a gravel bike. Cycling cloths are very functional and good cycling clothing adds to comfort, performance and even safety. I like to wear a bright jersey when I ride the road. You don’t have to look like a poser or a racer wannabe. Lots of good clothing is subtle.

I just ordered some cycling under ware from Amazon so I can wear my denim shorts on top...
Thats what I do. Some of my shorts are regular cycling shorts meant as outerwear, and some are designed as underwear. But I wear them all that way with cargo shorts overtop now that I'm 60 and not 20. Part of my thing is I need to get off the bike and walk into shops and do normal daily things. I am not riding for recreation I have places to go and stuff to do at my destination. My cycling shoes have cleats, and I cleat in while I ride, but they are also very good for walking for the same reason.

I am 62, defiantly not 20 anymore either. Tomorrow will mark two weeks with my bike. I have 262 miles on it and need a little more comfort down below...

I use a couple of short pants, both padded. One has 5 large pockets, and I use it off-road, the other is lighter, no pockets, and I use them on road. I think I used them about 95% of the times, maybe more. I really like the feeling and the comfort. Definitively suggested.

I'm tempted to try them, but if I do, I'll be wearing shorts over top of them.
Mine are in two parts ,inner padded and very tight like a wet suit and the outer baggy shorts .
Threw baggies away and the wear padded shorts under regular denim shorts that I normally wear .
Padded shorts are good , I cancelled the extra wide gel seat from Amazon .
I'm 80 and don't need to look fashionable anymore .

66 years of bike and motorbike riding and I took a nasty crash on a muddy back road last week ,the first crash on road bike .
Did a lot of damage to myself and the Kawaski bike .
But I'm repairing myself and bike ,thank goodness for my safety gear and cloths I wear .

I don’t ride long enough each time to ‘need’ cycling shorts/underwear, but I feel like if I bought a pair I’d probably notice a huge difference and want to buy 7 pair to wear everyday and those puppies aren’t cheap!!
