Hi all from the Great White North.
A little background. I purchased an Artifice tadpole recumbent a number of years ago to resolve an issue with my forearms and shoulders.
A little later was able to get back on a mountain bike and rode that for a number of years until I picked up an Radrunner. I rode that for a couple of years until I had a brain fart, left the kick stand down and wiped out on a corner when the kick stand dug into the ground (doh!). To make a long story short, the fall did a number on my back and I was not able to ride for a year or so. My wife asked me not to ride the bike as she worried every time I went out that I would have another fall (we're both seniors). Anyway, I agreed and now we've caught up to the main portion of the post.
I had a big rush of brown stuff to the brain and I decided that I would convert the recumbent to an e-bike and purchased a 48V Voilamart Electric Bicycle rear wheel conversion kit. So far, so good, I have the wheel installed, gearing changed from the original 9 speed hub to the supplied 7 speed hub, new gear shifter and the rest of the supplied parts of the kit. The trike is currently resting on a stand so that the rear wheel can operate with it stationary (plus it's winter outside, so no riding for me yet). Everything appears to work correctly, I can run the wheel via the throttle, or get it to work by pedaling from the pas mode.
Still a couple of questions, for example:
Do I know if the frame will stand up to the electric wheel?? Nope, will have to take it very slow and see what happens, plus monitor the frame etc. very carefully.
I don't have a LCD display as the kit did not come with one and the controller does not have wiring to attach one (missed that on ordering).
Will the pedal assist mode cause the motor to work full out?? With the Radrunner you could set the level of pedal assist. I don't see any option for that with the throttle controller I have.
The controller has these markings on it and I would like to find out what they mean.
SPEET SETI:1..1-4.2VDUAL MODE BOOSTER:1:1
This is on a DC MOTO CONTROLLER By Lithium Battery, model 10-11KU-4
Can anyone explain or point me to a reference??
Thanks, and ride safe!
