I have a beautiful analog Jamis Sequel that has not been ridden since I bought my ebike, and I'd like to do something good with it and show it some love. Where would one go in looking for a bikesmith to convert it over to epower? It's not something I would really want to do myself, although I am mechanically inclined, I would feel better having a pro handle this, someone I can trust. I want a powerful motor with pedal assist, I don't really even want a throttle. Hub drive or mid drive? what is the best way to go with this? The Jamis Sequel is a cross between a MTB and a cruiser with a ridged front fork, with a single front chain ring and 9 speeds in the back. I think it's the perfect candidate for an upgrade. I want class 3 speeds and this bike will be used for back country roads and groomed bike path and rail to trails adventures. I live in PA and there are very beautiful places to ride here, I just need a good person to convert this over for me. Can anyone suggest a place local to me, or point me in the right direction to get this project started?

If you like, since I live n south Jersey, I could ask my bike shop owner if he does such conversions - I like him and he was really trustworthy and good to me

Depends how much $$ you want to invest. I say put the new mid drive CYC Photon V2 motor. I put a BBSHD on my Nashbar frame mtn bike and it was a fun project. I already had tools, I only needed to buy a socket for the Bafang crank nut. Check out the videos from Johnnynerdout. He adds mid drive motors on all types of bikes. If you ship it to him, he’ll build up yours.

What is the name of the shop? I will look them up and call them, Thank you. I didn't want to travel real far and wanted to keep it local, but if I can't find anyone around me I'll have to expand my search.

My budget started at 1K for this project, and I'd like to keep it at that. But if I see a better outcome and a quality product I can be more flexible. I looked up johnnynerdout and he's in Vancouver WA and that's several thousands of miles from me, so that options out. He does very interesting work though. I can take a bike apart and put it back together, I'm comfortable with that. It's the electronics end of it, it would be a total disaster if I got involved in that.

I sent you a PM with the info - good luck! I have no stake in the game, so I didn’t post publicly here - I can tell you it was a great experience there with my first time purchase of an ebike

EDIT: sent you an additional PM on a well reviewed shop that may be closer for you - again, not sure if they do that type of work, but I believe they are a bigger shop so your chances may be better
