Hello I'm doing am ebike conversion on my bike but I'm totally new to this. I have 36 volt battery already installed on the frame of this bike and I ordered a 36 volt front wheel kit from eBay. I've noticed that the controller that they sent me is stamped 48 volts but I don't know if I could use this. I've not tried to connect it because I'm worried that it may be not compatible and maybe quite dangerous. I would appreciate some help and advice on this thank you.

Could you post a picture of what is written on your controller and possibly the original ad that was on Ebay, so we can see what's what?

Ok there you go

Yup, they also offer your kit with a 48v gearless hub, so they made it easier on themselves when they packaged the kit. It's probably good for you though, as it means the mosfets and wiring have to be able to handle a bit more voltage.
