Commuter vs. Fat Tire Bike Decision (Velotric Discover 2 vs Velotric Nomad 2)

Thumb throttle is considered safer, because a novice rider is less likely to actuate it by accident than a twist grip throttle.
I see this as being true. Also, a twist grip throttle may keep your forearm in a odd angle as a rider twists the grip? A good/stable grip may be safer than a twist throttle.

"forearm in a odd angle" Huh? The wrist does the twisting. Adjusting your grip is about as difficult as using a fork.
The only thumb throttle I ever used on a non-ebike was on a 3 wheeler ATV. I think they got banned.
What do most motorcycles-mopeds-scooters have?
Unintended throttle twisting is dangerous. Some clever people might maybe someday get that fixed. Seat switch, weight sensor, etc.
If they are using PID control, they could limit the D.
I call dibs on the patent!

Yep, it's not an issue. Just roll the wrist forward a bit before twisting the throttle, so that when it's twisted, the wrist is straight.

Yeah, mostly due to lack of training of the riders. One has to limit cornering speed and lean back and inside the turn to keep from flipping over forward at an angle and having the ATC land on oneself. People were busting up their legs if they put a foot down and the rear wheel ran it over. (short wheelbase issue) The plus side to them was nice light steering, compared to a quad. Bigger quads now have power steering and the lighter ones take significant upper body strength to turn, esp. in sand.

Twist throttle, because people who ride mostly with throttle prefer it. Full twist grip is the gold standard. Riding more than a block with a thumb throttle is uncomfortable.

The OEMs should give customers both options. It is more important than the step-thru/over choice which probabley costs OEMs more to offer. They could even sell different throttles seperately.
The only throttle I found that would work with my shifter only goes up to 75% power.

I have a good friend that is big into snowmobiling and atv riding. Having been riding with him several times I am familiar with the thumb throttle and agree it sucks! Its tiresome and to try and maintain a constant speed with bumps is imposable. My inexpensive Euybike has a twist throttle and when conditions are right, I really enjoy the cruise control feature.
