Hi, I'm Bob and I'm new here. I'm 73, been riding again for 20 years. I just bought a 2020 Specialized Creo SL Expert. I love the bike. It's a rocket! However, I'm a road bike person. The chain ring is 46 Tooth. The cassette is 11/42. I'm thinking of changing the chain ring to 50 and the cassette to 11/32. When riding my road bike in my area I typically have rpm of 90 and the lowest gear I use is my 4th which is 48" on a gear calculator. A 50 chain ring with the lowest gear cog of 32 is 42" on the gear calculator. Basically, I want to make it a road bike. Is there any reason not to do this?

Ive done exactly this, and works great as a road only version. ive also put a XTR rear sprocket on with 30T being the largest, 12T smallest. this groups the gearing better for road, and the 30T is still big enough for slow 20% inclines. Wolf Tooth do a 50T chainring, and its never fell off in 2 years, and a XTR chain.
