First post. I have no ebike experience. I just bought a used 2023/2024 Himiway Rambler for my wife. Her complaint about it is that it takes off too fast with the PAS. I have seen that on other sites that the PAS can be adjusted to start with less power and to start with more crank rotation. But this display (Himiway Hi-Play) does not have those options. I've contacted Himiway and they say that those options are not available on this display.

Can I change the display/remote, to say a KD51C (which is what they previously used, I think), and it would have the ability to change the PAS power and the amount of crank to start power assist?

KD51C display is made by Nulkomma for a variety of different bike companies. Each bike company has its own parameters for whatever controller set up they have chosen. The basic rule of thumb is that the controller and the display must match, you buy them together or there is no guarantee they will work at all. The threads here are full of people trying to match a new display to an old controller and failing, so the short answer is no. You can go custom and put in a KT controller and display that you can program. If you are new to all this, you could ask your bike shop how much an install would be. Could you tell us which Rambler you have ? There appear to be 3 different models, all very different. The midrive bike would have dissimilar characteristics from the hub motors. The only hack I can think of is that people often set their wheel size smaller, to trick the controller into speeding things up. You could try setting your tire size to 29"ers and see if that slows things down. I had a bike that came set at the wrong tire size, without my knowing, and that first ride was pretty fast and jittery.

Thanks Annie. I'll try those settings and report back. Just to show my ignorance, I thought I had bought a hub drive but now I think it's a midrive because I don't see any wiring going to the hub. Thanks for the info about controller and displays.
