I order a Tongsheng TDSZ2 kit for my mountain bike. The bike is set up for 12 speed. The chainring that comes with kit only goes up to 11 speed chains. Is there a chainring that I can buy that will work fit this kit and allow me to retain my 12 speed setup? My understanding is that they use a 110 BDC chainring with five holes. Does It have to be an offset chainring, or will a flat chainring work? Thanks for any and all advice.

You need to find a 110BDc chain ring that will accomodate the 12 speed chain. The flat sprocket should work, you'll be going to find an offset one. Aliexpress might be of help, heaps of chain ring suppliers on there.

Thanks for the reply. I am a little confused though. Will a flat sprocket work or will I need an offset one?

I doubt you'll find an aftermarket offset sprocket. Placing the chain ring ion the inside the adapter will have the bolts dragging on the motor case. I have an aftermarket chain ring on my Tongsheng, but I ride a Trike and the chain run isn't an issue due to the distance between sprockets.
You could try "Lekkie" to see if they have anything,

Thanks, I'll take a look.

I ended up purchasing this e-motor, Toseven DM02 with 100mm bottom bracket. I gave up on the 12 speed bike; really decided I liked it to much to change everything. I had an old Trek Rumblefish with the 90mm bottom bracket, running a 9 speed cassette. I am looking forward to attempting the build. Thanks for all the help.

You'll be impressed with how well that combination works. I'm about to change over to an 11 speed Shimano Alfine internal geared hub, so no issues with chain/sprocket fitting..

That's an interesting way to tackle the problem. Sounds like it should work good.

The deraiier needs to be matched to the Number of gears on the cassette (ie),9 speed cassette requires a compatable 9 speed derailier)
If you have 3 chain rings up front as well, you'll need the long arm rear version of that derailier. The chain needs to be matched as well. 6/7/8 speed cassette's will run on an 8 speed chain. 9 speed and above need matching chain. Shift levers are either road or MTB (different pull ratio)

Thanks for the info.
