I've got a Roll Road Emma 3. I can't feel any power assist when I pedal in any level,1 thru 5. When I pedal I just continue to slow down.

I think I've figured it out. I have to have the throttle on in order to feel any assist. If that's the case, I hate it.
Anybody want to but an Emma 3.0?

that's odd that ya don't get any assistance when you pedal
Could be the torque sensor thing eh?

I looked at your specs. This is a very powerful bike. I think HumanPerson is right, you currently have no torque sensor. Maybe you can start by going over the plugs on your bike and making sure it's all connected tightly and there are no breaks in the wiring. Are you still under warranty, because the next step after that is to call the company.

So, I saw from another thread here you have a lot of programming you can do. Did you check all those P levels to see if your torque sensor is turned on? Perhaps they set it badly at the factory. Honestly, controllers are the bain of an ebiker's existence.

Some disable pedal sensing, if the throttle is even slightly on. When I am in stop and go traffic, I use the throttle for this reason.

And there it is! The reason I have no pedal assist is a broken wire.

Getting the torque sensor out will be a major adventure, won't it?

Hey there, finding the problem is half the battle. Mokwheel has a good video on YouTube as to replacing their torque sensor, there are actually quite a few films on this problem. I think you are just going to have to count how many splines on the sensor bottom bracket so you know which tool to buy. If you haven't done this before, you can watch assorted, standard bike videos on removing your cranks and bottom brackets, the one difference involved is finding the wiring connection. Looking at a picture of your bike, I see a plate on the opposite side from the sprocket, hook up to the torque sensor is probably in there with the controller. It sounds like you DIY some things, so this thing won't be that bad. Let us know how it goes.

I've been in contact with the RollRoad people in California. Sent a couple of photos. They agreed that I need a new sensor, but haven't said what they will do. Maybe later today after they get out of bed in CA.

Good job finding it.

If you can show that it was their fault and it's still under warranty, I bet they will help.

If it was your fault because of how you routed the cables during handlebar assembly, I would hope they'd at least sell you the part and give you some advice on changing it. That is what will determine whether they are a Good Company or bad one.

That picture wouldn't load earlier. I hadn't seen it. You've got every single wire clipped. I can't understand how you could've done that. I think they should warranty it, possibly as a shipping issue. Good luck.

Got an email this AM from RollRoad. They are sending me a replacement sensor, tools, and an installation video. RollRoad, good on ya!
I'll close up the crank case and continue to ride it just using throttle. Like I have all this week.
Be sure to tape over the cut wire ends so you do not short anything out when you're riding on throttle..

I had never heard of RollRoad before this thread but I will be very glad to add them to my list of companies that back up their product and support their customers. Kudos to them for their response.
