I need to do a suspension seat post to help with my lower back problems im experiencing. I want to turn this post around to get me even closer to the handlebars instead of further way. Can that be done ? Will the seat post still operate as it should?

Also might need a new seat, any suggestions there would be appreciated. I bike for about 22 miles every day.

The right way to do this is to shorten your stem.

Actually, the first thing is to move the saddle as far forward as the marks on the saddle rails say you can go (and no further!). Next would be a shorter stem. After that you could try handlebars with a pullback that lets you sit further back. And lastly... and really, this should be your first step ...
Use a different seatpost. The one you are showing in the picture has a considerable setback. You can get seatposts that are suspension posts that don't do that. A Satori Animaris has minimal setback. A Cane Creek Thudbuster has no setback at all.

Seatpost on the left has a setback (see arrow where the connecting bolt and clamp are well behind the post itself). The post on the right has no setback (clamp is directly over the post)

Notice how putting the seatpost on backwards is not on the to-do list :-)

I bought the saffort along with a new seat. I’m going to try it backwards… we’re about to find out.
I’ll probably get a different adjustable stem very soon as well.
