Hello, was getting ready to go out on my bike this morning and bike took off like a bat out of hell with me not fully on. Needless to say, down went me…hard and the bike so hard it bent the piece that holds on the derailer. Has anyone had this happen to them. Love my bike has 3000 miles on it, so not new to riding it. Knee is really screwed up.

Once, when parking my bike, I had the cuff of my sleeve get caught in a new thumb throttle. I spent a good few seconds trying to figure out why my cargo bike was insisting on climbing the grocery store wall. Since then, I keep one hand touching the brake when parking, so I know I can hit the cut off if I need to. What is the make of your bike?

This is why, after turning on the power to the bike I always make sure the bike is in pedal assist zero. That should eliminate any possibility of the throttle or the pedal assist, kicking in while you're standing, still mounting the bike or just for instance at a stop sign. My bike gave me the ability to determine what pedal assist level. The bike starts with when you turn the power on. Needless to say I've set mine to zero.

Great suggestion!

You have quite a few miles on your bike. People have mentioned that the half-twist throttles can get debris or water in them and over time this will corrode and create a short. For safety's sake it might be time for a whole new throttle for your bike.

I have had my Breeze surge one or two seconds after I stop pedaling while riding. It can be dangerous if you are making a slow turn and this happens. I think there is controller issue on these bikes.. My friend has the same thing happen on his Breeze model.

Very sorry to hear that; have recent knee issues myself, no fun, how bad? I'm happy with my KBO tornado, not so much
the half twist throtte. It's okay on the KBO, but not on my wired with 3 times power, boocoo torque. I have big hands,
tripping that throttle by accident could have consequences. I know positioning the pedal without holding a brake can
do the same thing. Pamper the knee, give it time to heel, do go gently into rehab. Don't be like me, push to hard, &
have to start over.

It sounds like you moved the pedals enough to activate the motor or you nudged the throttle without knowing. Since you have 3000 miles on the bike you have plenty of experience getting on and off the bike so I'd chalk it up to a freak accident unlikely to happen again after this incident.
