Hello, I got a new bike rack and seat from Halford, but they keep slipping as I ride (Seatpost and Selle Royal). I have an apollo phaze e-bike that I installed the on, and I need a secure fit for my commute. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a good rack and maintain the seat?

Thank you

What is slipping, your seat on its rails or the seat post in the down tube and how is the rack slipping? Is it attached to the seat post?

Well, I guess I can use a better rubber for the seatpost rack? I may have to change the way I ride over bumps, etc. Since I carry load.

Believe it or not people have used everything from sand, leather, wood, rubber and more to tighten up slipping joints over the years.

Clip on seat post racks often slip. If you want to keep that style, you can add a seatpost clamp underneath it to stop it from sliding down.

I keep a seat post from slipping by folding a bit of coarse sandpaper into a hose clamp 'round the seat post. crank it down, 8mm

✅ Tighten properly — Use an Allen key (or torque wrench) to snug those bolts. E-bikes need extra grip.

✅ Use carbon paste — Sounds fancy, works like magic. Adds grit to stop slippage. Works on metal too.

✅ Check sizing — Even a tiny mismatch in seatpost diameter = slip city.

✅ Quick hack — Wrap post in electrical tape or an old inner tube for extra grip.

Your Apollo Phaze deserves better than a wandering seat and a runaway rack. Fix it in 10 minutes, then ride like nothing’s slipping — because nothing will.

(And if you want general e-bike care tips later, e-bike guide has your back.)

My aluminum framed road bike had a seat post that would slowly slip down, a known problem with that model. I cured it with carbon paste and careful tightening to 8nm.

Over 40ish years of doing mechanical work another thing I've learned is old school valve griding compound works great to stop slipping joints and mounts.
