Hello ebikers,

I was wondering if the battery does not have an Electro Magnetism Field that can harm your gentiles, if it is right under the seat or right in front of the seat.

Thanks for the reply, but what do you mean by 'no'.
Does it have no Electro Magnetism Field or does the existing field does no harm you?
 
There is no such thing as what you are describing :) ergo: No harm.

A battery does not have an electromagnetic field. It can be used in conjunction with a coil to create an electromagnetic field, but it doesn't have one unless you create one with the right parts.

A simple wire with current running through it has an electromagnetic field

So, while you are e-riding an electromagnetic field is surrounding your gentile,
if the battery is right under the seat or right in front of the seat.
And the faster you drive the stronger the field, I guess.
Very scary ...
 
There are precise limits to the amount of EM that a device can emit without arming biological tissues. And these limits are mainly related to the intensity and frequency of the radiation emitted: roughly speaking, the higher the frequency, the higher the risk at the same current.

This is true for RADIO frequencies (above a few kHz) and above. Here we are talking about Extremely Low Frequency EM. You need really HUGE currents to produce some effect on your gonads or brain at the frequencies typically emitted by a device in the "a few Hz" range. Something that would probably arms you for other reasons because. I am talking about varyiing magnetic field of several Tesla (1 Tesla = 20,000 times the typical Earth magnetic field). We are constantly bombarded with signal radiation from terahertz to kilohertz generated by human activities.

As others have correctly pointed out, this is not a problem. Really. Believe it or not.

The problem is that the word "radiation" has taken on a very bad popular meaning in the last few decades, because it's dangerous under certain circumstances. But that's like saying you have to be careful when you drink water because you can drown in the ocean.

And don't worry: the way electromagnetic (nonionizing) radiation can damage reproductive organs is by vibrating water molecules and “heating” them, that is not good...

This is exactly as a microwave oven works, as it is designed to make them resonate (the water molecules, not the...balls :) ) using EM radiation that oscillates at 2.45 GHz, or 2.45 billion times per second.

The reason I know this is because I'm a physicist, I've been working with microwave detectors for astronomy for decades, and to calibrate them I used a microwave generator called a Klystron, which is the same one that was used for early radar during WWII (Battle of Britain). When you work with that stuff you have to be careful, because they can actually induce damage to soft biological tissues and in particular to the reproductive one and the brain.

But when you have a stationary or nearly stationary electric field, such as that emitted by a running battery, you can't produce any electromagnetic radiation that can heat up your balls.

Just to say: the risk associated with using your computer or phone to write those messages is marginal but still orders of magnitude larger than the one by pedaling several hours a day, despite the distance from your balls.

Thank you for this very useful info and for the link. Now I am reassured a lot.
I have an organic lifestyle, so I am always very carefull with these things.

You said, that a running battery can't produce any electromagnetic radiation that can heat up your balls.
But on the other hand I red somewhere that an electromagnetic field can charge a matter in that field.
Hopefully an ebike battery right in front or right beneath is not that strong to charge my balls and all with it.
