Hello all,

Looking for some advice please.

I am hoping to upgrade my 250w 36v controller on my Ampere Xtrail but struggling to find a direct replacement.
It looks to be a Bafang setup but I cannot seem to find what this controller is or any quick swap out replacements which have the same connectors (Uart, Juliet, 9pin motor, front light, pas, XT60).
All of the controllers I find online have different or missing connectors.

I did try and connect a 48v battery to this controller, the display had the option for this and I checked the capacitors in the controller were capable by looking at the voltage rating in them.
But when the 48v battery is connected even though it all powers on, the motor won’t spin. Assuming the controller is not allowing it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to upgrade my controller?

Guessing I may need to start fresh with a new setup?

I think what you have there is a Lishui, in which case you would probably need a new display too. Are you trying to go to a 48 volt system or are you looking for something you can program? Why don't you check out some of the KT controllers on Aliexpress and see what is compatible. Plan on getting a new display, regardless and remember to watch your overall box size.. Let us know exactly what you are trying to upgrade.

Thanks for the reply.

I am looking to gain a little more power up hills and maybe a little more top speed so after reading forums upgrading to 48v from 36v would provide this.
I only have an 8mile daily commute but have mixture of hills.
If my existing controller can be programmed to 48v then that may help of course I am open to any suggestions if I am going to wrong direction.

I will take a look and see if Lushui is the manufacturer. Perhaps they offer a way to reprogram.

I've have to remember to look in the box to the left more often. You are in the UK. If you go to Google and search for "Ampere E-bike derestriction", there is a post on Reddit with a link to the manual for Ampere bikes, if that is what you are hoping to do. Your controller only has 7 amp constant current and states it is for 36 volts not 36 to 48, so you really would have to change that out, to add a 48 volt battery. I will post a pic from Aliexpress of a KT controller that might be suitable, you would need a KT display to go with it. The vendor it's from, "Hudamzky" is also on Amazon and is reputable. I do not know what your plugs are, so you should double check that. If you want to read about problems with unmatched displays, there are plenty of threads on it. I do think your motor can handle this, as Bafang usually puts in beefier motors and just limits them. Keep reading up on it and see what you think and go over Hudamzky's specs of different types of controllers, then ask more questions and watch some videos on upgrading your controller. With a KT controller you can reset your own parameters if you find yourself switching back to a smaller battery.
