My Aventon Pace 500.2 LCD display is dead after 1400 miles. Almost 3 years old.
Went for a ride to the lake, and after after a picnic, the bike would not power up.
Battery was full, turned battery on with short press, then long press on handlebar switch.
No display, no motor function. Repeated several times, without success.
I had to walk it home, on account of, it was uphill the whole way
After a little research, I narrowed it down to 3 possibilities.
1) Bad battery connector.
2) Bad motor controller.
3) Bad display.
I checked the battery connector, and it was good.
That left the motor controller, or the display as the likely culprit.
Called the local bike shop (ATV Wholesale Outlet, in Sacramento), where I purchased it, and talked them into letting me swap a display (without charging me for a mechanic to handle it)
They were extremely helpful
Turns out, it was the display after all.
I purchased a replacement from them, for about $85, and installed it myself.
Also asked about an issue I was having with my hydraulic brakes. The break handle was bottoming out against the grip, before engaging the brake.
He gave me free advice to bleed the brakes, even showed me a good video on YouTube, to help me get er done.
Must say I'm very happy with the service from the Bike Shop, but disappointed that the display failed so early, with no damage from a crash, etc.
I mean, my car has 150k on it, and the display is still as good as gold
Don't know how common this is, but I was told that it has happened to others.
