Hello, I have been reading some of the posts on the Aventon level. 2.

I understand all electronics at some time or another have some quirky issues and or sometimes you get a lemon Straight Out of the Box.

What I'm looking to get from fellow owners is how do they like their level 2 or Aventure model?

I have a like for the narrower Wheels on the levet.2 because I do mostly surface riding on asphalt.

I do like the 750 watt Hub motor versus the 500 watt on the level 2. I called Aventon locally and the fellow could not tell me what the torque ratings were for those two different Motors.

Is it better to go with the Aventure model with the 750 motor or the levet.2 with the 500W,
I can always put thinner tirbut on, but I'm just wondering about the overall characteristics of the aventure and the level two in differences.
I like motors with lots of torque and I can't seem to get a clear answer from anyone and there is nothing listed on their specs.

Sorry this sounds like a riddle but I'm looking to buy one as a second bike.

Also, if anyone has any advice on a similar bike please add. I'm not stuck on getting a Aventon.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah so I'm looking for something that I can lift and put into the back of my RAV4. So I need to keep it under 60 lbs I think the level two hits either 60 or 70 I need to check it but I'm going to go check one out tomorrow and see how heavy it is and take some measurements. Yes that's a good looking bike looks kind of like a backwoods hunting bike.

I just looked at a review for a level2 and was a little disappointed to hear that once you hit around 23-24 mph it's a real hard pedal to get it to 28 mph. Mostly because of the gear ratios. I'll see tomorrow when I test ride one.

Did you see my review thread, here?

No quirky electronics issues.

I love the bike, if I could only have one bike, this would be it.

These tires are not narrow, but not fat either; 2.4" wide, if I recall correctly. I pedal it on flat ground at 13-15 mph unpowered. The (Continental) tires have a wide range of inflation pressure.

The motor is 500 W nominal, 750 W peak. I think Aventon probably did that to stay on the right side of the law, depending on how "750 W limit" is interpreted.

The bike gets up to 25 mph pretty quickly, but getting to 28 mph takes a bit longer. I admit I rarely go above PAS1.

Since you seem to be obsessed about speed and power, why not go with an eMoped this time, something that is designed to spend some time at 28 mph. Ride1UP REVV1 and de-restrict it. Or heck, even get one that can be registered as a moped, so as to not have the eBike limitations? There are a few out there, I can't remember which ones.

The Aventure has a more powerful motor, but also weighs 20 lbs. more and will spend most of that extra power turning those heavier tires.

From the Revv1 specs:
  • 1,000 W (sustained) motor
  • 95 nM torque
  • 30-60 mile range; you could probably count on 25 miles battery-only at full throttle.
  • Battery balancer, center storage cage and spare batteries are all "In Stock"
  • Cast wheels are nice
  • 30 mph top speed (careful though, I hear they're starting to crack down a bit in coastal CA communities...)

Well I got a chance to look at the Aventon level.2.
My first impression is that it looked fairly small on the frame size. And I was looking at a large frame.

Looking at the drivetrain I wasn't impressed with the components, but I guess at that price point that's what you get.
I did see it was a maximum of 25 mph which might be fine in general but when I get on some open stretches, I want to really get the Cadence going and get it to 28 mph.

I also got a close look at the aventure Fat Tire line of bikes and you are right it is a beast, and the tires are literally balloons.
750 watt motor.
Glad I got to look at it, because I don't think I'll be interested in either one of those. My next stop is the Rev1 up.

The guy in the bike shop did not want to recognize that brand at all, he basically dogged it saying you can't get parts for it blah blah blah blah. But it is a local San Diego dealership and it's been around since 2018.

I do know that their inventory is pretty well tapped out on some of the models because of the Black Friday sale and price reduction they had.

So the journey continues. I like to buy one time and hang on to it for a while and use it, meaning hopefully it's a quality item and has some lasting attributes.
It seems with ebucks you get what you pay for, and going cheap might send you down the road of discontent and regret. But!, that can happen on a high dollar item as well.
I had to go through a lemon law buy back here in California on a Mercedes that I purchased that had continuous electrical issues. Great day!

The brand is Ride1UP, not Rev 1 up; maybe that’s why the guy doesn’t recognize it?

The bike model is Revv1. It’s a beast too, but at least the wheels are 20” instead of 26, so that saves some weight and bulk.

Heads up though, it’s a single speed, geared for 15-20 mph, IIRC. They’re not pretending that you’re going to pedal it much, other than to let you show the cops that it’s got functional pedals. I think I’d prefer that, to clean up the right side odd the handlebar a bit.

I think I remember reading that this model has the best rear suspension on an eMoped this side of Super73.

It was probably a typo in my part,

Looking at their website which I have been for a few months now it shows they have some pretty good assortments of bikes with fairly good components but I have yet to see one in person as I don't feel like driving to San Diego to look at one.

I will have to wait until I see one on the road. They have a few interesting models.
No I wouldn't be interested in any scooter type 20 inch wheel, moped Style or foldable Ultra mini.

I am looking at Velotric now. But they are also very elusive as there are not any showrooms around here to look at one. I'll have to wait till I see one on the road.

There seem to be Aventon dealers offering test rides a lot closer to you than San Diego. 11 within 50 miles. The closest one is in Fullerton, 14 miles away:

You're pretty lucky; in my neck of the woods, we don't have bike shops specializing in electrics, it's just that they happen to HAVE electrics too.

Thanks for that info, yes I called a few of them, and they didn't have the specific models I was looking for. I'm pretty much moving away from Aventon. I got to see what they look like yesterday. My new focus is this one.
It looks pretty cool and I can get a free rack and fenders with it I think that would suffice for kind of an extra bike to play around with and the price is right. We'll see I have to look at one first. I did check out the geometry specs and they look pretty good.
