Thanks to all for helping me get down to these two choices. I would like to hear which you would buy and why?

Common are:
Commuter style
Torque sensor
Front suspension fork
180mm hyd brakes
Fenders & lights

Differences are:
L2 Lmt'd-v2
$1600 $1200
500w 750w
62lbs 55lbs
Their own Tektro brk
2yr warr
1 yr warr
rear rack extra

Let's go ladies and gents. I know there are owners out there. If I'm lucky, somebody has ridden both that can lend their views.

Basically, if money is not an issue, I think the Aventon L2 has an edge in warranty, rep and service. But is that worth $400 + tax more, while giving up weight, power and name brand brakes? Hummmmm

I have a Level.2 and it's a great bike. It also includes a rack, which the R1U doesn't. They look about the same, and the R1U maybe has a better suspension fork, as it's name brand, where Aventon's is generic.

Aventon's tail light is also a brake light, and it has two more tail/brake lights integrated into the seatstays. (also nice!)

Aventon will be much more likely to be serviceable locally, as they work with 1800 dealers. R1U doesn't, as far as I know.

Level.2's riding position is more aggressive, were Lmt'd is more upright. (closer to Aventon's Pace 500.3)

Aventon's display and controls are much nicer and more intuitive. (I had a Portola before)

The one thing I wish I had that my Level.2 doesn't have is belt drive, but that brings us into the $2200 price class.

In your price class, I'd go Level.2 or Aventon Pace 500.3 and add the rack & fenders if you prefer upright.

I have a long, ongoing review thread on my Level.2 in the Commuter eBikes subforum here; check it out.

It really depends on your needs, how you plan to ride and if 7 lbs more weight creates problems for transporting (both weigh less w batt removed).

On paper the Lmt'd-v2 looks like a clear winner --- unless you have some problems in the 1st 2yrs. . If problems develop, the L2 is worth $400 extra.
