Aventon Level 2 Review Thread

Quick Update: I cracked 2,000 miles on this bike yesterday on the way to the brewpub. It was a great purchase and if you're looking for a Class 1/2/3 commuter eBike, I can heartily recommend this one.

I hope the Level.3 does as well for its owners as this one has for me.

Enjoyed your thread! I have a Level 2 I’ve owned for 10 months and have 950 miles so far. Former hardcore roadie just older now! We have wonderful paved trails all around Sioux Falls so it’s fun to jump on the bike trail for lunch or dinner and do a 26 mile lap around the city.

I tend to ride mine on 2 and 3 most of the time and pedal hard. We have a lot of wind here so no uncommon for 20mph headwinds for half the ride.

My bottom bracket or cranks make a clicking sounding under heavy load so Aventon sent me a bottom bracket under warranty. Will have the bike shop replace it and upgrade the cranks over Winter but have had no issues with the bike. Glad to hear you’re getting 2,000 miles and still enjoying it!

I'm a hardcore roadie now; still like the Level.2!

I ride most of the time on Level 1 or 0, but I'm not "older" yet, 49 this year. One of the nice things about an eBike is that days that are otherwise perfect but windy don't keep me inside or dreading the ride. I just choose whether to fight the wind or take the eBike.

Mine might too; I thought it was the suspension seat though...

I had the Level.2 up on the stand yesterday for some routine maintenance. I was going to clean the drivetrain and tweak the shifting.

After I cleaned the chain, it occurred to me I hadn't checked it for stretch yet. I checked it, and sure enough, it's stretched, which may have something to do with the fact that it's not shifting great any more. I can either get it to downshift well or upshift well, but never at the same time. Would've been smarter to check for stretch BEFORE cleaning the chain. I could've just recycled it dirty.

...so I got to try the chain breaker on one of my multi-tools. I need to order a new 8-spd, chain and master link. Level.2 is out of commission for awhile. It has been my main winter commuter, but I may relieve it of that duty, now that I have the eFatty. No need to have multiple bikes rusting out on me at the same time. Hubs are still good, brakes are still good, though I should probably order a couple sets of pads at the same time.
