My Aventon Level 2 pedal assist died on my ride home from the brewery, no bueno! The throttle to engage the motor works, but when I pedal, I get no help from the motor. Bike has 700 miles, I plan on taking it to the bike shop I bought it from that supports it, but is there anything I should look at as a quick fix?

Well, you can try unplugging and replugging your harness wires to the Pas sensor and to the display, in case they caught on something and became partially unplugged (make sure to line up the arrows when replugging them). You can also check your Pas sensor down at the crank. Is it loose or muddy or just too far away to read the magnets? Does your display show the number for the assist you wanted or is it missing from the screen? Checking these would be the best place to start.

Levels for the assist show. How do I check the sensor in relation to magnets distance? What is the distance supposed to be? And just looking, don't even see any magnets, assume it would be some circular piece with magnets on it? A manual for the bike would help tremendously, does Aventon provide a manual? Checked cables, all good as far as I can tell. Bike has never been in rain or any mud, strictly a road bike.

You know what, I'm sorry. I'm forgetting you have a Level2. Your bike has a torque sensor, so, that may be where the problem lies. The sensor in that will be internal. To get at it, you will need to pull the crank. These do break, if you are under warranty definitely take it to the shop because they will need to replace it as a unit. If you decide to do it yourself, YouTube has some videos and "The Adventure2 Zendesk" has a very good page of instructions on Aventon torque senor replacement. I'll post a pic of the part below, also if you Google "Aventon Level2 manual and assembly" the Zendesk download for your bike will come up.

Yeah did some more research, and as you said torque sensor, pull crank, etc. It is working this morning, and it happened one other time and end of ride, so wonder if use/heat is issue. Regardless still under warranty, let the pros diagnose and fix. This is exactly why I bought good brand at a local shop that supports it. My younger self would be busy tearing apart crank, but close to retirement age, yeah not gonna.

I took bike to shop, they could not reproduce the issue, they talked to Aventon who gave them procedure to reset the electronics in the torque sensor. So now we wait and see if it happens, if it does I should be able to get it replaced free since still under warranty and I have established a history of it being an issue.
