Hey...

My 15 month old Aventon Level 2's motor flat-out died. Aventon says their 2 year warranty doesn't apply, as there is no grandfathering and I missed the update from 1 year to the current 2 by a few months.

The shop showed me another fried motor - they are made with plastic instead of metal & lubrication, so I say they are basically time-dated. It's nonsense that I should have to fork over hundreds of dollars for a new wheel (that's all they sell, not just the motor itself) for something that only lasted a paltry 2,000 miles and 15 months. And of course the next motor will suffer the exact same fate...

Has anybody else had this nightmare? Is there another solution? Aftermarket seller at a lower cost? 3rd party motor wheel maker? Something with some real metal parts that won't disintegrate in a year?

Thanks,

- Jeff Newton

Well, I ordered the wheel. It's the same motor as on Pace 500.
I guess it depends on what Pace 500 it is, e.g. 500, 500.2 or 500.3? The early Pace models had the manufacturer written on the hub (for instance Jiabo/CZJB) but then Aventon had them manufactured with their own name on it, and also changed manufacturer, I believe. Meaning it is hard to tell what's inside it unless someone takes it apart. Doesn't seem to be the more expensive, and widely available, Bafang motor, tho
