I went to Erik's Bike and Board today to take a look at the Aventon Pace 500.3 because I was sure that was the bike I wanted. Looking at it in person I wasn't impressed enough to buy it but what did impress me was the Level 2. It was marked down $300 to $1,599. Same price as the Pace 500.3 but the Level comes with fenders and rear rack which I would have had to purchase as accessories, saving another couple hundred bucks.

The two things that sold me on the Level 2 was the color, Glacier blue, and the handle bars. The cruiser bars on the Pace felt too narrow and with my wrists kind of pointed in. I much preferred the sportier position of the Levels flatter bars.
I'll take it for a spin tomorrow and take some pics and post them up.

Congratulations!

I just clicked over 2100 miles on my Level.2 yesterday. Here's a thread with my journey on it:
https://ebikesforum.com/threads/aventon-level-2-review-thread.3764/post-57981

I often tell others that if I could only keep one bike, this would be it.

The included lights, rack & fenders were big selling points for me too.

At first, I found the bar position too aggressive, and bought an adjustable stem for it. I enjoyed that for awhile, but ended up going back to the factory stem. Replacing the stock thin, round grips with ergonomic ones with palm rests really helped.

The Mirrcycle bar-end mirror is really nice to have too.

Thank you for the link, @Smaug. I read every thread and watched all the videos, again thanks. Makes me feel really good about my purchase.
I certainly agree with your first impressions, especially how strong PAS 1 comes on immediately. That is going to take some getting used to. The grips are skinny and aggressive like you said but feel good to me with gloves on. The pedals do not rotate very freely and may get changed out but not right away. The SR Suntour ncx seat post that I had originally purchased for the Lectric XP3 will probably end up on this bike with the original saddle. I was surprised at just how good it is but we'll see how it works out on longer rides. I still haven't figured out the bag issue for the rear rack. I really like your Topeak set up but would like to use the Aventon rack. If the mount system won't work I may have to go with a smaller bag that Velcro mounts. We'll see, I'm not in a hurry.
I don't want to make comparisons between the Level 2 and the XP3. They are total different bikes and in different price ranges. I like them both and the XP3 is not going anywhere.

End Of Trail And Back

The heat has subsided somewhat today so a bike ride was in order this morning. The Turkey Creek Streamway trailhead is approx a mile from our home and extends for 7.5 miles. That mile through our neighborhood is pretty hilly and then kind of levels off a bit at the trailhead as the trail skirts Turkey Creek. I started out with 43% battery level and it was down to 12% when I arrived home. That last mile back through the hills with less than 20% was a nail biter! I now have 35 miles on the bike and this will be the first charge. So the expected range is right on target with Aventon, so I'm pleased. But, and it's a big but, what I'm not pleased with is there is nowhere in the display that shows battery voltage! Nope, not there. Instead, I get totally useless info such as 'Carbon Emissions Reduced' and 'Trees Saved' that I don't give a fat rats ass about! Sorry tree huggers but I couldn't care less! I need 'Time of Day' and 'Battery Voltage'.

Rant over, Carry on.

Is there a precision battery gauge, at least?

My Level.2 has the %, but a precision battery gauge would be just as useful.

I found that I get the advertised range on mine too. They did a good job all around with this bike.

Too bad you don't care about trees, though.

Sorry about that @Smaug, that was a little harsh. I do care about trees. Just not how many I saved on my bike display. Especially when it lacks the info I could really use. I don't know about 'precision' battery gauge. That to me would be a tenth of a percent. My display should be exactly like yours. I'm sure I will get used to just percent of charge but I think I like Lectric's display and firmware better. But overall, I'm really digging this bike!

Would you like a little DIY? I think if you go into your frames battery compartment you could add this. They say it is even potted, so it should be waterproof and a simple connection splitter adds it on. Maybe not when the bike is brandy new, but in a few months when it's time to add bells and whistles.

Wow very nice ride! I love Aventon bikes even though I wound up with a Velotric - they have an amazing look and design about them

While I agree it has some irrelevant information what does the voltage do for you? To me it says you still have to figure out approximately how much power is left. I like the % left that tells me how much I have in the “tank”. Again IME I know it’s not very accurate.

BTW… there are way too many variables to measure all that tree hugger stuff accurately IMO. It’s not that I’m not pro- environment it’s just I shake my head in disgust when companies push such information. My OCD kicks in and wants precise measurements…..to the tenth of a percent please!

I also struggle with which information that Aventon deems is critical for a rider to be aware of. I am a bike rider first, and an environmentalist as well, but I don't understand why Aventon feels the need to display (in the APP) my elevation change. I own a Level 3 commuter bike, and, while I don't use it in the city, I think that's what the original design intent for this bike was. I suppose some cities have large variations in elevation ( Denver or San Francisco come to mind) but I really only wish to see how far I have gone, what speed am I going, what time it is, and my battery condition and level. How many calories that I have burned, or how much carbon usage I have reduced, while important, can be buried in the menus.

Live in Fl riding mostly rail trails. With pedal asst at 1 I get about 75 miles on my level 2 with a full battery. Wife gets about 90.
I am amazed when I hit some hills and see that battery % drop so fast. Not sure how you guys in the hills manage that.
BTW, I have exact same bike as OP. Love it.
Does Aventon ever put batteries on sale???

Also get ahold of this gentleman and see what he has to offer ;)
