I recently bought an Aostirmotor S17 and took the battery out today for a few seconds to show a couple friends that it was removable, and now it pops up an "Error 10." I cycled it back home, messed with the settings, found the password/pin, forgot the digits that were in place on the screen, then exited the menu. Now it wants a pin upon turning on, and I have no idea what it is, or how to reset this thing. I've tried the standard "180*" and "0000" and nothing works. I've emailed them, but I was wondering if anyone on here has/had similar issues.

I've figured out the pin/password, but now the Error 10 still displays, reconnected every wire, looked at the controller, done everything online, looked at the error codes for the display specifically, and nothing. Even the manual is useless in displaying codes. It shows 1-6, then 21-26 for some reason.

I asked chatbot and it said :
Error 10 on an Aostirmotor is a motor hall sensor error that can appear when a motor wire is loose or unplugged. To fix this, you can try unplugging and reconnecting the wire, making sure the arrows on the ports face each other.

Yeah, that's the first thing that pops up when you Google: "S17 Error Code 10" or even the display model number, which took me a while to dig for, thanks for a person a YouTube for making it super easy to find now. But, I've Googled everything, tried everything, and still nothing. I did get an email back from the company to give them the order number and whatnot, so I'm hoping their "professional service" as they tout, is good.

I mean, I shouldn't have to worry about popping the battery out and the whole bike messing up. I'm pretty sure it's the display being dumb, but that's the whole intention of removable batteries. The thing was completely off too, had been off for a while before I popped the battery out. I'm thinking that there was a bit of charge on the display before I removed it, and upon reinserting it, it shorted the display.

But again, even the manual for the display was useless. I'm starting to hate Chinese technology more and more these days. American tech isn't any better, but it's harder to get in contact with someone over seas as is.

That is the display/manual for it. Useful, but useless on error codes.
Unless the display was reprogrammed at the shop the bike was bought from, hmm

So the Shop you bought it from are no help? If so I would not buy from them again.
Lol, for sure, they don't even sell the bike anymore, nor do they sell parts for anything. Can't even find a damn speed controller on their website.

Thankfully I got this resolved, because I emailed the company, and since it was under some sorta warranty, they replaced the speed controller for free. But now it's randomly shutting off and displaying the same code, but it'll turn back on after you slam the battery back in, so. Def not going with Aostirmotor again lmfao

Based on what you are saying, there could be a battery connection problem. Could be slightly bent pins, or corroded pins. If you search for this kind of problem I think you'll find checklists of things to do to detect what's the problem, and straighten or clean the pins etc

Well, you certainly don't have typical battery connectors on this bike. Can you tell us how the battery is inserted? Does it go in from the side? Where are the connecting pins?

Nah, no modifications have been done, but it could also be some water damage too. I've checked the connectors, stripped it apart, and inspected every wire and nothing is off. The connector for the battery is fine, it wiggles a little, but it's always done that.

Can you lock out your rear sus.? You could see if that effects the code in anyway, which might give you a direction to head in. In the photo, I see 3 different wires that would have to move whenever the bike flexes.

Just to make sure there is no misunderstanding, when I said connector pins, I didn't pin connectors on wires, but rigid connectors that get inside the battery's slots when you plug it in.

The fact that slamming the battery in temporarily resolves the problem makes it extremely likely that there's a bad contact somewhere between the battery and its socket.

The connector pins I mentioned are usually springy. If they are not sufficiently so, they might not make good contact. Pushing them back outwards could fix the problem.

Same if they are corroded, corrosion might stand in the way of electric continuity;

I don't think it's the rear suspension, as I've hit multitudes of bumps and it doesn't turn off. I earnestly don't know what it is, because the last few times I rode it, it only turned off when it was just going down the street. When I was coming back home, hitting whatever bumps, and when I was going to work, it didn't really turn off. Except for once when I was trying to get across the highway after waiting, and it randomly turned off in the middle of the highway.

Technology is weird.

One thing that the internet mentions is that error code 10 can be a shutdown due to sudden overheating. One person said that their amperage for the bike was set too high and under stress, this would cause it too get hot and shut down. Can you go into your P settings and check the amperage settings? This would explain it dropping out when you tried to cross the highway.

Nah, it ain't overheating, I give you that, lol, it was freezing cold when I went out.

I'm really thinking it's water damage when I was riding it in the rain a couple times when I had to. I mean, to be fair, it lasted both times, and still turned on when I needed it too, and worked.

The error code it displays(when it pops up) is "6" instead of "10" (I thought it was the same, but oops, had to recheck)
